CE Level AAA — What the Standard Actually Requires

EN 17092 classifies protective jackets, suits, and pants into three levels: A, AA, and AAA. Level AAA is the highest, intended for competition and high-speed circuit use. For a one-piece suit to carry a CE Level AAA mark, every component must pass:

  • Abrasion resistance — The outer shell must withstand a defined number of abrasion cycles without breakthrough. Kangaroo leather achieves the highest scores here; cowhide at 1.2–1.4 mm is required to pass at all speed zones.
  • Seam strength — Double-stitched and bonded seams are tested under tension. Single-stitch construction fails this test at AAA.
  • CE-certified armour — CE Level 2 protectors are mandatory at shoulders, elbows, and knees. A CE Level 2 back protector must be included or the suit must accommodate one.
  • Cut resistance — Additional panels at high-impact zones must resist cutting forces above the threshold defined for AAA.

We maintain a technical construction file (TCF) for each suit style we produce. When you bring a suit to market under your brand, the EU Declaration of Conformity is issued in your brand name using our TCF as the technical basis.

One-Piece Racing Suits

Our one-piece circuit suits are produced in kangaroo leather (for competition-level weight savings and abrasion performance) and full-grain cowhide (for brands prioritising durability and price point). Standard features for our one-piece racing suits include:

  • Pre-curved arms and legs for a seated racing position
  • Stretch panels at knees, crotch, and underarm in certified stretch materials
  • Hump back option for aerodynamics at circuit speeds

Two-Piece Modular Racing Suits

Two-piece suits — a racing jacket paired with matching racing pants connected by an internal zip — are increasingly popular with track day brands because they double as road riding gear between events. We manufacture two-piece systems where the jacket and pants are pattern-matched, the zipper is rated for circuit use, and the combined suit carries CE Level AAA certification as a system (not just the jacket and pants separately).

Track Day Operator and Club Racer Programmes

Beyond brand clients, we work with track day operators who need rental fleet suits and club racing series that specify approved suit suppliers for their licence classes. Typical orders in this segment are 20–80 units per size run, delivered in club or series livery. Production lead time is 45–60 days after sample sign-off.
